Why is that Protestants give stuff up for Lent?
I really don't get it.

One of those things that gets done on occasion. Whenever I feel like it. Whatever strikes me as interesting. Maybe share some photos. Maybe actually tell some friends about the place. Who knows. We'll see.

For me, it's a time to fast from something that I may be gluttonous about, something I take for granted, and maybe even something that occupies too much of my time. That frees up time for me to reflect on what Jesus gave up for us, and since I give up something that I really enjoy or do often, it also provides me with a reminder to pray, to thank God, and to meditate on how I can serve others with my time. I'm also trying to give up worrying for Lent (and maybe forever!) so when I find myself worrying, I try to quote scripture verses. :-)
